Hi friends, my career has gone through several transformations, some felt more like bumps and falls, while others were enjoyable. The more honest I was with myself, the more I enjoyed and the less I suffered.
I think many people today are going through what I went through, I hope this post will inspire you.
The Pattern I Couldn't Ignore
Looking back, I can see clearly how my first business (building websites) was enjoyable because it didn't come from clinging to big future profits. Why my first and last "regular" job (at Office Depot) didn't feel like suffering, because I didn't think I needed it, I just wanted to see what it would be like (boring), and I quit the moment they told me to shave.
The long entrepreneurial journey with computer games was mostly enjoyable and exciting because it started from a huge inner "YES" and not from some ambitious achievement-oriented thought. And why when I chose to work as an employee at a place that didn't align with my values, it was ongoing suffering that distanced me from myself, and then it took me 5 years to return to myself.
Since the computer games until today, I've had various projects, Startup Camel, the first Israeli podcast about entrepreneurship, a restaurant, a tech startup, and also more failed attempts to be someone I'm not.
It seemed that every time I entered something from genuine enthusiasm and interest, I had a positive experience, and every time I entered something from purely rational considerations, I "got hit."
I don't know if this works the same for everyone, but for me it does, and the learning was very important.
Living from Intuition, Not Logic
Following this understanding, I dedicated many years to learning and practicing living from intuition (inner drive) and not from rational considerations.
I understood that the relationship between the mind and intuition is similar to what happens when playing a musical instrument, especially during improvisation. In music, the more I understand the language of music, and my fingers are practiced until they move freely, this allows intuition to use this sophisticated tool (my body) to create music, and I'm as if just watching this wonder that's happening, as if I'm just watching a movie.
The same in life, learning, experience, maintaining physical and mental health, they all constitute a sophisticated tool that allows intuition to move through it and operate it, and the more sophisticated it is, the more impressive and special the result.
The Pivotal Moment
How did this understanding manifest in my life?
It's woven into every moment of my life (my life!), and yet, there was a defining moment that particularly expressed this understanding. I was in the process of setting up a new business. I intended to create a kind of incubator for business owners who don't have a partner. I experienced the difference between being a 'solopreneur' versus having a partner, and also heard about the experiences of business owners around me, and it sounded really needed.
I planned, organized, marketed, gathered a group of interested people, and by the time I launched the service, everyone had cooled off and decided not to join. This was not an easy blow for me. I needed help digesting it, learning, and rising back up. I called to consult with a friend.
He asked me why it required so much effort to bring a few interested people, I said I market on Facebook and it takes time until my followers are exposed and trust is built. He looked at my profile and said, "You've posted a few posts about business, but still 90% of your posts are about personal development. How do you expect people to get the impression that you're an experienced businessman who can help them?"
The Breakthrough
It was clear to me that he was right, and for a moment I thought I needed to push even more content, but I noticed I was in an achievement-oriented motion and not driven by inner drive and enthusiasm.
I let it go, and after a week, spontaneously the penny dropped, I don't want to change the content I write at all, but to change my occupation to fit the content I've already been writing for years, to what's clear to me I have passion for.
After this story, people who experience stuck patterns and unhealthy loops began miraculously appearing in my path (you know when this happens?), and I witnessed how right and natural it is for me to help them.
All the questions disappeared. I know what I came to do.
Your Journey Awaits
If you're feeling stuck in your own career, constantly solving problems instead of living with purpose, know that there's another way. The path isn't about adding more strategies or forcing yourself into a mold, it's about removing what was never truly yours and reconnecting with your authentic self.
This is exactly what I help people discover through the Inner Compass journey, a deeply personal process of finding your own answers within, leading to work that feels like play and success that actually satisfies.
