There's Me—and There's The Voice

Inner Work
The waters go still and I start sinking into myself. Then the voice arrives—fast, logical, commanding. It stirs the waters till I float back up, away from depth, away from the heartbeat.
I bargain: "Let me just do these tasks quickly and then I'll rest into myself." Evening comes. I didn't finish. I didn't meet myself. I didn't live. Maybe tonight. Dawn: hours later and countless posts, still unfed.
Practice
- Notice the voice without obeying it immediately.
- Put a hand on your chest; take three slow breaths.
- Ask: "What's the smallest step back to depth?" Then do just that.
Depth isn't far. It's just beneath the first thought.
